Opportunities to further education may be provided through the provision of needed technology, educational supplies, support materials, and access to higher education. Funding may also be provided for professional development training for those serving clients in recovery.
Medical, Dental, and Vision are basic services needed by recovering citizens ready to enter or return to the workforce. Healthcare funding may be provided for services such as medication prescriptions for medical and mental health related illnesses, drug testing, and medical supplies; emergency dental services to relieve pain; and the purchase of glasses and eye examinations.
Rental assistance may be provided as a bridge between sobriety and gainful employment for clients in recovery. This type of financial assistance could also mean the difference between moving from dependent living (sober living homes) into independent living (transitional housing).
Transportation funds may be provided to financially assist clients who need transportation to medical appointments, employment, counseling/therapy, court, or mandated drug testing. Funding assistance may also be provided for the purchase of bicycles and payment of fees associated with various modes of transportation such as bus passes, taxi, Uber, and Lyft services.
The short-term goal is for clients to gain employment, and the long-term goal is for clients to remain employed and employable to become productive citizens, one day at a time, for their remaining lifetimes. Work readiness funding may provide financial assistance to purchase items such as work boots, work shoes, uniforms (not provided by the employer), business attire and personal hygiene services such as haircuts. Funds may also provide the tools needed for their trade, such as construction or culinary equipment.
